Many birthdays :)

So, every year around the middle of January, I start reminding those I love that my birthday is imminent. I create a little count down, and every day, my partner is greeted with: "And whose birthday is it in 3 weeks time?!"

Two weeks prior to my B-day I was surprised with a weekend in Paternoster on the West Coast :)

Clearly, this approach holds many benefits: There is an increase in the level of wining and dining and the quality of entertainment is at an all time high. I have also noticed that the gifts tend to become more in volume and generosity :)

On the day, a breakfast at the One&Only with a Spa appointment afterwards...

Mom and me for a compulsory celebratory cappuccino!

Brother and I for the first leg of of the "after-birth-day" celebrations

Our family being entertained with a flambe crepe Suzette...

The hero of the special celebrations is my partner, who tirelessly works every year to make this the best one ever. As part of my campaign, I always assure him that this is the case, as it seems to motivate him enourmously for the next year!

When You are Old

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face amid a crowd of stars

I just absolutely love my birthday....cannot wait for the next one!
